Putting League- Winter Session Halfway Point

We just finished week 4 of the winter session of my Women's Virtual Putting League. These women are on !!

Week 4 is a wildcard week where every woman gets 50 putts to spend any way she likes, at any distance the league putts from. Putts must be made in increments of 5. Each distance has a different point assigned to it:

10' & 15' are 1 point each
20' putts are worth 2 points each
25' 3 points
30' 4 points each

It's really a great opportunity to get acquainted with the distances you're comfortable from and which distances you may want to consider laying up from.

This session we reached a new high with 53 women registering & paying- meaning we'll be awarding over $1,300 in cash to our winners across three separate pools. All of the money paid into league goes toward payouts!

A Pool

Things always heat up in A pool after wildcard week. With 200 points on the table, it's always interesting to see what distances the ladies in A pool will play from. Historically, a good amount of ladies have tried their luck taking all of their putts from 30' for max points.

I was surprised to see that most ladies chose to take all of their putts from 25' this time around. That's been my strategy for a while because I've been focusing on consistency from that distance.

We did have a few ladies mix up the distances between 20', 25', and 30'. And two of our ladies took all of their putts from 30' which was really inspiring to see!

Audrey grabbed the top score of the week with 115 points .

B Pool

Our B pool is the largest yet- with 23 ladies paying in- meaning it also has the largest pool of cash to award. I'll be paying down 10 spots, which is 43% of the players.

There have been a couple unfortunate dropouts, but I've come to expect at least a few now that I've been running this league for a while.

I think B pool tends to also have our largest swing of points scored among the ladies. Ladies in C pool are usually focused on finding their putting stroke- working on the technique and just getting reps in. A Pool ladies tend to have more confidence and more consistency. But since most of the ladies are in-between those two extremes, we see a lot of B poolers running putts from distances they're not yet consistent from in the hopes of a better score.

While Jesika had the highest percentage of putts made with 72%, it was Lauralee who shot our top score of the week with 102 points. Lauralee took all of her putts from 25' for a bigger payout and it worked!

C Pool

I'm really happy with how the C pool has grown since I split league into three separate pools. There have been a lot more newer women signing up and it's been inspiring to see them all work so hard at improving.

I've been trying to pay out to as close to half the ladies as I can to encourage them. This season I'm paying down 8 spots which is 47% of the ladies.

Most of our ladies in C pool chose to mix up the distances they putt from during wildcard week, though there were a few who took all their putts from one set distance. Scores for this wildcard week were the best for C pool that I've seen yet!

Our top score was from Amanda who took all of her putts from 20' and hit an incredible 72%!

There's still 4 weeks left to this session and anything can happen! Especially considering we close league out with another wildcard week.
